Paul Stafford, 70, who has been the landlord of the 16th-century inn since the early 2000s described the area as something of an "oasis".

We loved the cosy atmosphere and rustic surroundings. A very friendly team ran it. It has very low beams and a lot of Toby jugs depicting differing characters.
